I sent some 7mm GB Soupcans toward paper with 14.6 - 16.1 of WC 820 M.
15.1 and 16.1 seemed to be tied at about 1.0 - 1.25" at 50 yards.
16.1 should be at 1800 and change.

Replaced the 2X scope with 2 -7X for retest this weekend.

I am thinking 50 Yards for our small local whitetails.

What say those of ye with far more experience.

I've shot a few with this caliber and wasn't impressed with the results. No expansion what so ever. Even double lung shot they ran anywhere from 75 up to 300 yards. My 357mag barrel was a much better choice for the TC. Just my two cents worth.

TC I hope it works i have set my sightes (pun intended) on using the TCU this hunting season.
I am going with BLC2 or H322 though.

TC, what is YOUR alloy's BHN? I've used the 7TC/U in 10, 14 and 21" barrels to take white tails in Md and a few other states. I found straight ACWW to be okay in the longer tubes, but a softer alloy works better in the 10". I added a few pounds of pure lead to 7# of COWW, Hornady gas checks and a different powder. Chronoed at 1750, I had few go more than 50 yards. Another mold(287405=150 gr) and 4759 powder @ about 1600 FPS worked very well also. The other powder was either 4227 or 4198.
I do not believe I'd shoot a deer at over 150 yds with this load in THIS gun! It did not exit 16" of wet pack at 200 yards.

BHN has been running 14.5 or so.

May be time to break out 10 lb pot and have a special run of boolits with lots of "pure" lead in the mix.

I was planning on a max distance of 50 yards,.

I have both the 10" and the 18" barrels in 7mm TCU. It is deadly on our local blacktail deer with the last being a 200# live weight doe. The carbine is my most accurate CB rifle with the round nose 130's from a Lee mold. I use the soup cans for hunting deer.

What are you using to push your "Soupcans"
Same load for both barrels?

Good luck getting this dialed in, TC. Played with this one -- and the 6.5 -- from 10-inch barrels when messing with "sillywet" some years ago. My thought was they punch above their weight class. Thinking 1:20 or even 1:40 might give you the terminal performance you want.

Have you tried casting this bullet as a softnose? I'd experiment with melting different sized pure roundballs, or even pure lead buckshot for the nose, to see what you could come up with that grouped well, but showed some "riveting" style expansion in test media. FYI, if you don't know how to cast softnoses, it's pretty simple. Float your roundball or buckshot pellet in a ladle on top of your melt, and cast your normal bullets while you wait for it to melt in the ladle. When it does, pour it into your mold and immediately fill the mold up the rest of the way with your normal alloy.
