ok i have not yet got a sizer for 45 acp boolits. but tonight i thought i would load up a dummy just to see if it would chamber. as i know many of you guys out there shoot as-cast sizes.

so the boolits i'm try right now is.. the lee 452-230-tc the mold i borrowed is casting at .455

i'm loading on a 550b with dillon dies. so when i loaded the dummy as it went to the crimp die i could feel that it felt like it might be sizing the boolit.

it chambered fine; so then i pulled it to check size.. now it is .453

i think i'm going to load up a few and see how they shoot.

P.S. that is not the box of primers i used.. it's an empty one on the bench

45 ACP is a pretty forgiving caliber as far as cast boolit diameter goes. If they chamber OK, chances are things will be fine. It's when boolits get undersized that things get ugly.

.453 is fine for me. My .452 is a bit oversize, and with lead springback, the largest diameter is just a whisper over .453 at the widest.
I see no obvious bulge in your loaded rounds that would cause a problem. I use the same set-up as you.

well i made it to the range after work yesturday; they shot fine. barrel was clean after 6 shots.

i shot at jugs filled with water. the one that i hit dead center passed thru-and-thru then dug a 18inch trench in the sod behind it. they all went thur the jugs at 5 and 10 yards.

The only reason I size my rifle bullets, is because I need to crimp the gas check. I don't size pistol bullets... maybe if my mold was way too big I might.

my 1911 and PT145 won't chamber anything over .452 so I size them all in a LEE push through or my Lyman 45.

on the 2nd time thru i had a perfect run with one target set at 30 yards.

5 grains of green dot and Ben's Red. in glock 30.
