Thought you might be interested as a warm up for deer season. Heres the email I recieved from a friend. Hope I wont be the only cast boolit shooter there, And hope to see and meet some other members, BTW I'll be the (only) Guy shooting a scoped Swiss K31 and a 1903A3. Hope to see you there, Tim

Welcome All!

It's that time of the year again. Deer season is just
around the corner!

There's no better way to sharpen your skills with your
trusty old deer rifle than to get out and shoot it
under conditions that you would encounter during deer
season!

Time and date:

Sunday, 4 November 2007 - Shooting begins at 12 noon
until ???

Where?

The Carmichaels Sportsman's Club / Carmichaels, Pa.
(Greene County)

Donation $10.00

Targets are life size deer. Range is 100 yards.

You will need 20 rounds of ammunition + a few extra in
the event there is a shoot off to break a tie.

RULES:

Please read carefully.

Hearing protection required! Eye protection highly
recommended! Please bring your own!

Only rifles legal for hunting deer in Pennsylvania may
be used in calibers .243/6mm or larger.

No slings or shooting coats and NO heavy barreled
rifles permitted.

Open sights or scopes may be used, however if you have
a variable power scope, you are asked to turn it down
to a maximum power of 9x.

Course of fire:

5 rounds fired in the sitting/kneeling position using
cross sticks. (The sticks are furnished by the club)

5 rounds fired sitting/kneeling without sticks.

5 rounds fired in the prone position.

5 rounds fired standing off hand.

Total 20 rounds for a possible score of 200 points.

10 points for hits in the heart
9 points for hits in the lungs
8 points for hits in the liver
5 points for hits in the other parts of the deer.

Ground cover mats for shooting in position will also
be furnished by the club. Tie breaking shoot off shots
will be from the standing off hand position.

Trophies in several categories will be presented to
all category winners and door prizes will be awarded
after the shoot is completed!

Good food, coffee and soft drinks available at very
reasonable prices throughout the day!

This is a FUN EVENT for all legal aged hunters.

Directions:

From the North. Take Route 88 South into the town of
Carmichaels. At the first red light, turn LEFT. Go
about 1 mile and the club is on your RIGHT!
Directions from other locations by request. Give me an
email.
Carmichaels Sportsman's Club has been holding this
annual event for about 30 years. It's a very nice club
and the folks in attendance as well as those who
conduct the shoot are the friendliest bunch you have
ever come across!
Come out and have a good time and help support this
fine club!

Sounds like fun, but I can't see the reasoning behind prohibiting slings. Why would any rifleman go afield without his sling? Is the pupose to level the playing field by eliminating those who know how to shoot?

I think your allowed a sling on your rifle but your not allowed to actually use it as a shooting aid in the sitting and prone stages .But 90% of hunters only know how to use their slings as carrying straps anyways Sorry their rules not mine!

NCBS has a no sling rule also. it keeps it even. Gianni
