Liberty Silencers did a tour through through Texas. They were at San Antonio last Sunday and Gearnasher and I went to check it out. They supplied the guns and their silencers, we only had to bring ammo.

It was a fun time. The whole silencer thing, if you haven't done it, can be very addictive.

Here's a few pics:

This is really Liberties flag ship of silencers. It's called the mystic, made of titanium, and has adapters for just about anything in pistol caliber. It can also be used on the 300BLK.

There's a funny story around the mystic's introduction. As the story goes, AAC (another silencer company) ordered one through a dealer and word got back to Liberty about it. The folks at Liberty figured out which serial number was going to AAC and cooked up something special for them. AAC got it and was not very empressed. It was heavy and didn't work at silencing very well at all. Opening it up revealed something rather unique. The titanium core was actually stainless steel and it looked a bit 'different'.

Can you see what makes this silencer a bit "special"? Let me help you a bit.

I guess all's fair in love, war, and silencer manufacture. lol

Well, here's Gearnasher with IIRC an FN 45 acp with a Mystic mounted. If you notice, Gear IS waring ear protection as it is range requirements. BUT, notice he has them canted up a bit to hear what it really sounds like. It was really very impressive. I've got video too but the background noise is just terrible.

http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j154/L1A1Rocker/Liberty%20shoot/HPIM1663.jpg (http://s79.photobucket.com/user/L1A1Rocker/media/Liberty%20shoot/HPIM1663.jpg.html)

Well, that's all the photos. For some reason the camera stopped after taking pics of Gear. Don't know why.

Edit: I forgot to mention the full-auto goodness that Liberty brought out to show their stuff was full-auto rated. They brought an Uzi and M-16 for us lowlife to finger and play with. They ware a great group of folks.

THANK YOU LIBERTY for being so friendly and for letting us shoot your stuff. I hope this generates a lot of sales for you folks because it couldn't have been cheep for ya'll to do.

Yep, they came to Morganza, La. on the 16th. Absolutely fascinating. Pistols, full auto, .300Blk with a full shroud, .22's. A cap gun is louder than a .22RF bolt action suppressed. Temptation is strong, but the total cost involved is depressing. Guess I could get stamps and build 'em myself if I could figure out an adaptor to clamp on rather than have to thread the barrels of what I shoot. Oh, well, no problems with my neighbor so I'll just keep on keepin' on. GW

Liberty's are dry - Right now I think only DTA, Thompson and Gemtech make wet.

Of course you can drip some in most any 22LR or pistol can to help quiet it even more.

Here in MA I can't own a Silencer! But a guy I buy stuff from is a manufacture of them. I went there one day to pick up an AR lower, he told me he had something I would like to try out. So we went to his little outdoor range, he hands me a bolt action 22 with what looks like a bull barrel. He tells me its loaded, "close the bolt and pick a target" I do what he tells me and all I hear is "clank" the bolt falls I feel a very light recoil and that's it!! Ends up being an internally suppressed bolt action 22 LR he was developing for the local Police. We shot a couple hundred rounds and I never got tired of that "clank" sound!! A lot of fun for sure!!

We can own them, but I don't see me ever dealing with the govt regs to own one in this lifetime.

I have a few of those great little accessories. My first can, a Bowers CAC9, gets used on a Mac380, Mac 9mm and a S&W 76 9mm sub machine gun. I bought that can many years ago. In fact, I paid more for the tax stanp than i did for the can.
My favorite is using it on the Uzi SBR. The Uzi sbr fires from a closed bolt, and using subsonic handloads, it is easily enough to shoot without muffs. You just hear the action and the thump of the 147gr bullet hitting the berm.
People are quite surprised that you can legally own one of those things. But when you explain what you have to go through to legally own one, most say they would prefer to not do that.
Bowers is the best dollar for dollar supressor on the market today. Since machine guns have gotten so expensive, collectors and shooters are moving to the lower priced NFA toys - like SBR's, AOW's and supressors. Let me give you an example - Colt M16a1 bought in 1986 for $700 is now a $16-20,000 gun. Who can afford that?
I am awfully glad I bought all my machine guns many years ago.

Pretty neat. 1934 was a bad year for the 2nd Amendment. Imagine all the people that wouldn't have hearing damage.

It looked like the NRA was starting to campaign for relaxing the regulations concerning suppressors. I think this was about a year ago. I saw some articles and then that was it. It's funny that countries with the most stringent controls allow, even require, their use. Hollywood did us in.

My career as an underwear model was, understandably, short lived.

The Liberty folks were tops, a really organized and well-run demo team and some impressive products. Any of their pistol silencers can be run "wet", in fact the blast 'Rocker caught in the middle picture is mostly water vapor as it was dosed just before I fired it. Justin of Liberty was running the pistol table and explained that a dose of water in the .45 pistol silencers is good for another 10db drop. It was quieter than my .177-caliber CO2 pellet pistol.

I like the design of it if you want to see something interesting find information on the original Maxim silencer it was made for full power machine guns and reduced recoil 60% . They were also off center so the line of sight was not obstructed like some made today.

I renewed my CCW Licensee last week and asked about the Sheriff signing off on the Form 4. Was told he would absolutely do it and encourages people to buy as much as they can afford. This explains why I can walk in and have my CCW License in 15 minutes while surrounding counties are 10 to 45 days with all types of paperwork and loopholes.

If you're thinking of buying now is the time. Current wait time for the forms to clear is 9-11 months. And with the proposed changes to Trusts they're trying to make it harder for us to acquire them. I will never understand why suppressors are NFA. I don't buy the poaching argument.
