Ok, not a CB kill, but thought you all might find this of interest. I had a draw tag for Nelchina herd caribou. On 17 Aug I spotted this guy sheep hunting, but of course my caribou tag wasn't good until the 20th. Could only take his picture.

On the 21st this little guy stopped and stared at me at 20 yds broad side. It had been raining constantly, so I left my blued Ruger .41 mag BH in camp. If I had it with me I would have wacked him with a 255 gn WFN, but wasn't going to blast him with my .300 Win mag. No sport in that.

Last weekend I spotted this bull with 5 cows and a smaller bull. While contemplating my stalk, a wolf started howling across the valley. This made the bou edgy and they headed to the east through a high pass. I climbed over a ridge and was just able to intercept them and got a 130 yd shot with my .300 Win mag.

It took me 2 days to get him packed out.

Awesome! The best experiences are the ones that involve a bit of work. For some reason meat packed out on a frame just tastes much better to me.

Funny you should ask because "something" cleaned off one whole front shoulder/leg overnight. I was not happy to find that when I returned the next day for the remaining meat and antlers. That dang wolf prolly planned it that way all along.

200 gn Barnes LRX and 69.5 gns of Norma 205. That powder has been discontinued, but found some at a gun show. I had to replace REL 22 which has become unobtainium in these parts.

Not really. The bull I shot was in a band of seven and I saw 2 more on my way out.
