Lots of trial and error, but these 150 lead cast epoxy coated bullets are cycling well! Not the prettiest in the world, because I was only testing these , and did very well .
Thanks for some of the tips you guys had given me . 81918

Looks like the wrong profile nose punch for the sizer. I had the same problem with a nose punch for my 257100 mold. It would make my spitzers into a flat-nose profile.

How would I get the right size nose punch for this resizer.
Thanks

Which mold is it? Lyman, Lee, NOE, ???

The other choice is to make a custom fitted nose punch with epoxy.

If you're looking for top punches, get ahold of theperfessor on here. Besides better quality, they are lots cheaper than the retail stores and Keith is a very good guy, a vendor sponsor on here, and you'd be helping to support a member on here.

Very good. I don't think they realize I'm using lee push through resizer dies.

Ah, so it is your seater die, seating and crimping at the same time? You should crimp separately, that should fix the deformation.

Are you pushing them by the nose or the base?

Well then the only time the nose is touched is with the seating die - are you flaring your case mouths before you are seating the boolit?

Artful, I just figured this out . This is only happening when I chamber the bullet in the gun? It does not do this with standard fmj bullets ? I see a slight ring where the chamber meets the rifling in the barrel. This is what's happening . Anyone ever seen this happen before because its happening here , lol

I think I'd make a dummy round to double check that diagnosis

That certainly points to something wrong with the barrel. I've never seen those kind of marks from chambering, from a seating stem yes, a mis-matched sizing punch yes, never from chambering. I've had some serious chambering issues, specifically with AR's and especially with the 300, but nothing that caused this.

Please check that barrel out and verify exactly what is happening as that looks like something dangerous is happening.

Dumb question here, you do have a 308 caliber barrel right? You didn't get ixed mup and put in the 5.56 did you? That would explain that strange ring on the nose of the boolits in a really scary kind of way.

are you sure it's not the seating stem?? i'm get the same ring in my 223 boolit noses. a friend is going to make a custom stem for me.

 Oh no...I have two blackouts and the only time I have ever seen that is when I chambered a dummy round into a 5.56 to see if it could accidentally be chambered. You can chamber one, but the bolt wont close all of the way...unless you jam it in there with a forward assist and have bullet set back. That was with the lee 155, but the shorter boolit may allow the bolt to close. Something is definitely wrong here.

I hope he didn't try to "test" them. Be safe out there.

No it's not the seating stem. I did chamber those bullets to see if they would chamber properly. They are tight in the chamber. This ring is only showing after chambering. The bullet is not being pushed in farther in the brass either?? I called CMMG and they are going to look at the gun, bad part is that they'll probably have it for a while .

Is the barrel marked 300 Blackout?
Is the end of the muzzle .308 diameter?
Pictures of the upper are helpful, but that wont happen with a 308 bore.

Yes barrel is marked 300 blackout. End of muzzle measures .305 , so yes it's a .308 barrel likewise. That was the first thing I checked to make sure
Thanks
