Welcome to the club. Been there, done that--got a new chronograph out of it! And some spare parts. LOL to the max.

I find it more effective (and cheaper) to simply open it by hand....But hey a 45 works. :kidding:

I thought it was a jukebox. Chrony doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

I think the vitals are a little lower, but I am sure you had a good blood trail to follow.:bigsmyl2:

A magnetospeed may be in your future!

You can sell the purchase to your better half: "Honey, but think of all the money the magnetospeed will SAVE us by not getting shot." Then go buy her a pair of shoes or something.

I recommend a head mount; they look the best over the fire place.

Welcome to the club. I've had a Model 33 Oehler since 1983.When I buy screens I usually buy extra because every once in a while one steps in front of a boolit.

Mine is red, at least the blood won't show.

Even though the shot was in the upper right corner the impact destroyed everything in it even hit the battery and exited the very rear of it.
I am thinking of a bullet shield for the next one would let me try my new wire welder out.
This was an early Chrony if i had placed the cardboard guide this probably would not have happened.
Since a new one delivered to the door is cheaper than sending it back what mount would look best for the reloading room?
The magnetospeed is not in my future is can not be used on the 1911 pistol.

Take heart, you are not the first and you certainly wont be the last. After my Chrony made it last reading, I bought a CED M-2. The sky screens are separate from the electronics. So an Oops! doesn't hurt as bad.
Here's a link if you are interested.

http://www.cedhk.com/shop/products/CED-M2-Chronograph-Set.html

And I think a full body mount showing it charging would be best.

If you didn't make such a BIG hole. If you had been shooting a .223 it might have survived.

Ah yes. About three years ago, I narrowly escaped the enraged charge of a
ProChrono. Luckily, I had the massive firepower of a 380 Auto, that put
that dangerous ProChrono down. In fact, after my purely defensive shot,
the ProChrono did not take one more step. Testament to the effective
placement of a cast boolit hollowpoint round.

It still haunts me in nightmares.........

That rifle will likely make a pretty big projectile----what charge will you use? What type of launch platform?

I've only managed to shoot a skyscreen on mine, buy the way if you have desperate need to curing some loads I'm also in mi, have a pact 2, provide a place to shot or come to mine and use till hearts content.

It's fun hearing the stories but you just don't know how scary it is being charged by a Chorno till it happens..I had to put a .44 through the center of mine.. it dropped about 10 feet away, not a drop of blood either.

Reluctant to mention how adept my old Chrony is at dodging projectiles over the years. I think a major factor is that it seldom ventures from a dark cubbyhole in my loading bench. My tripod is much more adventurous, it lives in the trunk of my car ready for any adventure.

btroj Tell your wife that was the second shot of the day and i have had that Chrony for many years it is a early one might have been from the 1980's and i have sent 100's of bullets over it.

Bad Water Bill (hope i got that right this time) not cooking it may end up as compost as Chrony wants full price even if i ship it in then again maybe i should mount it!

10x 45 acp was plenty cast 220 gr semi wadcutter 5 grs. Red Dot shot number 1 was doing 817 f/s a bit slower than i thought shot #2 dropped it like a rock well except for a few small parts that may still be in orbit!

She asked because I knicked a rod holding the sun shades with the first shot ever over mine. The same chrono she bought me for Christmas a few days before. Worse of all, she was at the range that day.

Yah, top that. Been better than 10 years and I still haven't heard the last of it. I was impressed, I hit the rod with a Contender in 22 Hornet......

You should have used a 218 Bee. Then you could have said "sweetheart you are so sweet that even the bees are attracted to anything you touch".:bigsmyl2:

Then duck real low.

Bill, I was too busy hearing "you shot it" over and over. Bullet fragments, cast bullet of course, did partially cut the cables for the battery but it still works.

M daughter did take put another wire with a 308 but other than a Dent to the body no damage was done.

For his 7th or 8th grade science project my son wanted to shoot both the AR in .223 and the .300 Weatherby through the chrono at 15 feet and at 50 yards to see how much speed was lost by each at that distance. I let him shoot them both at 15 feet but told him he had to show me a 5 shot 2" group at 50 feet before I would let him try to shoot through my chrono at that distance. He didn't group well enough so I did the 50 yard shots and thankfully didn't kill a chrono.

I can't really be a member. I have a 10mm hole through part of the back when a horsefly bit my neck, but it still works. Guess I didn't hit "in the vitals". My buddy is deadly on the wire rods. I can't get him to try some sight in targets after he installs new scopes. I stock up on shades and rods about every two years. Some of the rods, I've never found. Doesn't seem to hurt the Chrony though. Amazing what they will take.

Luckily when I hit mine it was with a 22lr and it survived.
