Does anyone know anything about a switch that I've seen on the side of a Westernfield M72? It doesn't affect the hammer fall as far as I can see.

I have a box full of those worthless safeties.
The Cross Block Safety is the scourge of the modern lever gun
and any others they might stuff them in

It's not like any hammer block safety that I have ever seen. It was on an older Ballard rifled 30-30, and was a switch on the left side of the receiver. The switch could be moved up and down (or forward and backward, I cannot remember). The hammer dropped to the firing pin in either position, must have been "fixed".
