Hey fellas and ladies:
Is there a hazmat fee required to send loaded ammunition through the mail, like there is on powder and primers?

Not that I'm aware of. It can be shipped UPS ground ORM-D at no extra cost.

NO! ORM-D sticker and carrier - NOT USPS...

having said that, the carrier agent took 30 flippin' minutes to research what I already knew and told him. Also had the box already ORM-D marked.

go to Google -> Images and then search ORM-D. Get a bunch of ORM-D samples. Pick one, print 2-3 images and tape to the box. DONE - Pay - SHIP.

You may be required to take the package to a UPS hub to ship it. The small UPS stores cannot accept it. But you can call the 800 number and have it picked up at your home for a small fee. Beats driving to a hub.

Unfortunately, some of the UPS drivers don't know the regulations, and you may have to get them to call the hub or a supervisor to get them to accept the package. (my experience) If you are printing the label on-line get one that has the words "Cartridges-small arms" across the top of the ORM-D label. According to UPS this is required. UPS is not consistent across their system as far as knowledge and training, so you may have some minor issues with UPS employees that don't know the rules, but this is the easiest way to ship ammo.
