I'm ecstatic! My wife and I spent a good while trying to decide if it was a good time to have another child. We worked the math, talked over the uncertainties of the future, and ultimately shrugged our shoulders and said "When are you ever ready for a child?"

Well, we got the good news from the Doctor today. She is pregnant!!! I'm so happy I can barely stand it. Just another turn in life's long road that we are ready to take.

Man am I loving life.

You don't mention how many kids that you have now..... in any case, I so regret not having another child back in the day. I feel that I screwed up by not having a second one to join my only son, for his sake too. I think of it constantly. Its a great loss to us by making that initial decision. It would been a great impact on my son I'm sure. My son is now 20 yrs old.

Congrats

Thank you for all the kind words. To answer some questions:

We have one girl now who is 4 years old. We have been talking about having another for about 7 months now. I grew up with a big brother and a little sister, and my wife is an only child. Both of us wanted our daughter to have a sibling. I wish we would have tried a couple years back, but a 5 year age difference isn't too bad.

Now to the gun question. Apparently a Mauser in 8X57 is not an appropriate 1st gun for a child so it looks like another Crickett is in my future. I did try though...

Hold onto that Mauser 8 X 57.

Before you need to shave again the little one will be big enough to handle it.

Ask any grandfather if you do not believe this OLD man.

Plus 50 years ago that rifle was selling for about $10.00.

What a great investment.

Parenting- the greatest challenge but also the greatest priviledge and responsibility.

Congratulations, prayers said. In my case, to many try to plan too much. Just do it and trust God.

Our youngest was born last Thanksgiving morning, about 12 hours after I got laid off. It's all good; I found a much better job a hundred miles away so we sold the house, picked up and moved.

I just bought her an M1 Garand for her first rifle, but I suppose it will be a few years before she can shoot it. Big sister has a pink Cricket (and an M1).

Congratulations, by the way! It's a good thing. :)

As far as I can tell, Talking to the wife, planning or whatever is not what caused any of my kids, but everything turned out great. I hope the best for you.

As you will find, 4 years worth of experience with the first, will probably in nowise really prepare you for the second. :D They are all individuals ...
