Hey there,
After waiting a year (hard to find a range in N. Il) I finally got to try out the HR Handi in 45-70. I was pushing some Moyers Cast through it using 65 gr Pyrodex 2F eq.

20 shots offhand between 2 of us landed a 5" group at 50 yards. We were pretty happy. I used 350, 405, and a paper patched 250 Gr .45 ACP boolet, all were about the same. I was using Top cigarette paper for the patches, and had to take care loading those. Everything was loaded using a LEE Loader.

All said I went through about 65 rounds out of the Handi that day, with some Mosin and .22 tossed in.
Cheers!

Actually, after the 45-70, and about 40 rounds each of the 7.62x54 we were surprised how good we were feeling. All we shoot is the big stuff and .22 so I guess we're used to it. We went on to do a couple rounds of trap.

I guess I'm just a wuss, after about twenty rounds or so of 45/70 405s I'm ready to call it quits. I can handle more from the 1895CB, but the little H&R Handirifle is a stomper!

Nah, we came up with that meme to egg each other on. Really, though the 12 Ga hit harder than the HR. I believe that the pyrodex behaves enough like BP that it is more of a push than a jolt like the Mosin. I like shooting too much, and my sessions are too far between to let anything short of dislocation stop me.
