I posted this picture in a thread a while back (can't find it now)

I presume I may have identified the projectiles in the picture in the thread.

Point is.

I don't know what the middle one is and I am trying to find out.

anyone know for sure?

Top one is a 311284

bottom one is a 311291 (one lubed one not)

Lyman 311299 if about 200 grain, 311322 if about 180 grain. Looking at length, I would say 311322.

Personally, I like them both. Got the other 2 as well, like them too. 308291 (yup, that's the #, now 311291) and 311284.

My initial thought was an RCBS .30-180-SP
My second, third, fourth, etc. are Lyman 311290 210 grn, Lyman 311333 197 grn, Lyman 311290 202 grn, or Lyman 311672 160 grn

I would say that it is not an RCBS 30- 180 because the one in the pic has 2 drive bands, the RCBS has 3 as does the 311299. The 311299 also has a round nose the pic appears to have a flat nose. Based on the length it looks like it is in the 180gr range. The question is what other 30 cal molds do you have?

I was going to guess 311299, but it would have to weigh out near 210 grains.

I don't think its a 311299 because there is no engraving band.

The kicker is, it's not one of the moulds I own. I think a friend sent me some samples or I borrowed a mould and cast a few hundred up.

I have a 311290,311291, 311365,311284,311316,311041, 311407,311466 and maybe a 311299, not sure, and a few others I can't think of right now.

I think it's more like the 311331, as the nose is 'tapered' if you will, like it is to meet the throat when seated.
There is no drive band and the nose above the top lube groove is smaller than the body dia.

Ok I feel stupid

I like it when I hear people say things like that.
Because it's the first sign of wisdom.

As far as knowing what boolits you have, I don't know either.

Didn't Bruce at BRP make a few 180gr molds that had a tapered nose but may have had crimp groves like this group buy.

It could be, but we looked for months for a 311331 for a group buy and never could find one. I'm not sure they exist in any numbers. It could be that you have one from the group buy, although yours still looks a little flat-nosed. Maybe it was a hollow-point with a flat pin?

My guess is that it is either a 311-332 or a 311-334.
Although the Lyman 2nd Edition cast Bullet Handbook shows then as more pointy than that, I think we can all agree that Lyman has not absolutely insisted on uniformity when cutting cherries over the years. I suspect that this was the case here, perhaps aided (and altered) by a nose punch that was not quite right.
