Might not be new, but wanting to experiment with a slightly hardened version of Ben's Red lube running through an automated sizer/lubricator, I wanted a 2" form to harden the new lube. A visit to Lowe's for 2" pvc and a search for some sort of cap found small compression plugs that I didn't even know existed.
I cut the pipe with a mitersaw and deburred the 10" sections. A quick tightening of the wingnut on the first compression plugs provided open-ended moulds to prep with a little spray of olive oil. After pouring about 8" of melted/mixed lube into the moulds they were capped with the second plug, rested for about 90 minutes, and placed in a freezer to solidify. 4 hours later good thumb (both thumbs) pressure ejected perfect solid lube sticks.
I haven't returned to look for smaller plugs appropriately sized for standard Star and Saeco units... yet.
Last tidbit... Empty cardboard six-pac cartons do a great job separating and holding the 2" moulds upright in the freezer.
