Looking into buying for my Enfield Mk3. I'm interested in something from Tom over at Accurate. Does anyone here have one from him or have another
suggestion?

Slugs measure out at .310, So i'll have to go .312.

Any other suggestions and advice for 303 Brit molds? What grain boolit do you guys prefer?

Are you sure about the slug diameter? Seems tight compared to most I have measured. How many rifling grooves? 5 groove presents a measuring problem as the lands and grooves basically oppose each other. In any event a Lyman 314299 or similar clone will likely do what you want. Tom at Accurate makes a clone with a small flat nose and you can order specifying the diameters you want it to drop for both body and nose. You might even find a 311299 that drops big enough if your rifle actually slugs at .310. Nose diameter might be smallish however with that one. I have both 314299 from Lyman and Tom's clone (his notes in the catalogue refer to it being based on 314299). They both shoot wonderfully from my Ruger 1.

Thanks for the advice! Tom has been a big help in the past.

Not sure about how many grooves, but i did two pure lead slugs and measured with a quality micrometer.

Its a Lithgow '41. With gas checks and shooting unsized at .312, I think i should be okay.

If it is a 5 groove just wrap a thin feeler gauge around the boolit, then deduct double the thickness of the feeler gauge. A .0015" or .002" work well for this.

It seems unusual for a Lithgow to be under spec. What is the bore diameter? I have some rather oversize bore 303's.

I would consider the 314299 the minimum.

My Maltby #4 likes the NOE 316299,, it's slugs a good .314".

.314 is the sizing die I need to make cast shoot good from my No1MkIII rifle.

I use the 175gn 8mm Lee bullet, gas checked to .314 for my `42 Lithgow, anything less and it keyholes.

I have slugged more. 303s which are over. 314" than under. Wrap the 5 groove slug in bond paper and subtract twice the paper thickness.

I use a CBE .315-240RN cast 1:25 tin/lead with 15 grs. of #2400.

I have three with a bore of .310! These are great because the boolits that fit the throat also fit unsized necks. (One got that big due to rust - it shoots paper patch OK).

Yeah, sounds tight to me too. I have four Lee Enfields (well, three I have shot) and all three like a 0.315" boolit. Two I have slugged and both run 0.315"+ throat and 0.314" groove.

I first tried the Lyman 314299 which cast at 0.312"/0.313" and accuracy was not good. Replaced it with the NOE 316299 sized to 0.315" and accuracy is good.

I also got the NOE 0.314" x 129 gr. and it shoots quite well after lapping to 0.316" to suit my oversize bores. And I now have the 316410 from Mihec but have not shot any yet. Cast, loaded and ready to go, just need some time. Beautiful little HP boolit!

My .303 Brit loves the 316299 NOE GB mold that I was gratefully allowed to borrow to throw a few hundred boolits. Good enough for ringing 8" steel at 200 yds with 18 gr. 2400 behind it.
