Went to a concert tonight with a friend of mine to see Blues Legend Buddy Guy!! It was in Northampton at the Calvin Theatre. He is 77 years old and still shredding his guitar!! He was incredible, but there was something even more incredible! The opener for Mr Guy was a 14 year old kid named Quinn Sullivan, yes I said 14!! Amazing talent he put on a Great show and played with Buddy near the end of the show! If any of you guys out there like Blues check this Kid out!!

I'm a fire alarm tech at University of Florida..got called out to the Phillips Center one night for an alarm, and Buddy was playing. Ended up watching part of the show from the stage wings. He can surely pick...Duane Allman was my favorite, but Buddy Guy can surely play. Another up and comer is Derek Trucks with the Allman Brothers..met him in Grand Prairie Texas..great young man

I'v seen everyone mentioned on this thread their all really good but Buddy just has a style that speaks to me. I've seen Buddy over 20 times over the years he never disappoints.

Buddy Guy is one of the legends. BB King is another.
I saw Mel Brown with Snooky Prior some years back and those guys just ooze "cool"!
We have a blues festival every summer here and the talent is incredible. Young band called the bluesers knocked my socks off. All of em were 15-16yrs old!
Must say Colin James is my fave. More of a rock/blues mix.

Derek Trucks is GREAT and hes married to Susan Tedeschi shes no slouch either!! I really love Blues concerts, the attitude is much more laid back there is less security and the artist is much more willing to meet fans and sign autographs! And on top of all of that the venues are usually smaller and much more intimate!!

Thanks for the thread Gilden07, that kid is freekin' awesome! He has two CDs out that are more rock than blues but the guitar work even on the first one (at age 11 or 12) is just phenomenal! Given the fact that he has Clapton's entire catalog of licks at his fingertips, and I might add, plays them with authenticity and unflappable precision, at his age, that is one h3ll of a good place for a guitar player to start, regardless of their age.

Here's one more of Quinn Sullivan with his mentor, Mr. Buddy Guy:
