View Full Version : Cheap lathe tailstock DRO

Inspired by others here with their poorman's DRO's, I bought this General 6" caliper a few weeks ago on the forum for $10.
Turned an aluminum ring collar and did some drilling and tapping. Ring collar stays on with a screw on the rear pressing lead against the spindle shaft so it won't mar. Only one hole in the tailstock casting.
Should give me better results than the poor graduations and markings. One doesn't need real precision in a hole, but I think it will be easier when I make another set of 45ACP shotshell dies and gas check makers.

Looks nice.
Ran a Bridgeport mill with sImilar scale on the quill. Was an off the shelf unit. Handy setup.
