I just finished casting 170 gr (177gr as cast) flat nose Lee bullits. I made a dummy round to cycle in my 1966 Win. 24" barreled rifle. When I set the over all lenght @ Max., the bullit have rifling down 3/4 the exposed nose. Is this going to be a pressure problem? I am pleased with the bullit Wt., that what I was looking for, something big and slow for a Mulely this fall. Thanks for your info

You didn't mention what cartridge or what rifle type...that would help folks to give you a more positive answer.

With the info you have provided, I'd say probably not. Start low and work up your load. Is the rifle just marking the boolit nose or are you actually engraving into the boolit? Makes a difference.

The rifle is a 30/30.
I would say the marks are contacting but not engraving much but they do mark 3/4 the exposed area length. Hope this helps
