saw a close up of some of the steel on hickock45s YouTube videos and saw that he was using them. I ran out right away to buy one

I picked up a similar hook at ocean state job lot today. $9 and change.

It was a little too tall as is so once it was in the ground I pulled down on the hook to get a little bend to the whole thing and bring the target height down a good 12" or so

Plopped it right into the base of the berm and hung a 10" diameter 1/2" steel plate on it. Cheap and easy. It held up great about 75 round of 357 about 50 rounds of 38 about 300 rounds of 45 (not all made contact) and a good 10 hits with 223 that put some craters in it. The hook took 7 rounds direct from the pistols with no ill effect. It pivots downward so the rounds slap down to the berm.

As far as plates a friend had some scrap from work. I'm sure the local scrap yard could set you up with some plate on the cheap though.

I hope this helps some of you out if you're looking for an inexpensive way to shoot steel.

The last I used were political sign holders placed on my property and not in any easement or ROW. Other than that, two el-cheapo hinges, maybe a dozen nails. a piece of an old cardboard box and scrap 1x4 lumber makes a cheap holder. Hinges were for collapsible legs. Total investment maybe $4.

Thanks guys.

Just trying to come up with something a little easier. I know most of us on here are hand and have access to some of these items but not all.

Sure I have plenty of rebar available. I also have oxy acetylene and a whole bit shop of tools.

It was way easier to spend the $9 and have this ready to go. I understand some people like to make things and have the materials on hand. Like I said before this maybe be helpful to the guys that need a quick cheap fix without all the hands on.

I'd use those to hang wind flags.

Bending rebar now-a-says is harder since most is schedule 60 instead of schedule 40. Schedule 60 tends to snap unless you heat it first.
