Hello Folks,

I have a Marlin Model 336 that was my first high-powered rifle when I was a teen-ager. I would like to re-barrel it and shorten the magazine tube, with an eye to making it super accurate (just for the fun of it). I haven't decided on the chambering yet, and I'm open to suggestions. My main question is, who would you recommend to do the work?

Take care, Tom

Its a .30-30 now right? I would keep it something that is based on the .30-30, if you must change the cartridge. It is pretty hard to beat a 336 in .30-30 for general all around usefulness, plus there are a lot of molds in .30 caliber that will work.

The smaller calibers have an appeal, but finding molds that work can be difficult and the red coated pretenders are kind of rare for both the 25-35 and 7-30 Waters.
