View Full Version : Sizing without Lube

I'm doing a few experiments with paper patching.
My as cast bullet are a bit to large for what i want. They dropped at .360 using WW alloy.
I have an rcbs lubesizer, and I'd like to bump them down to .357.

The question is, can i do this without lube in the sizer ( no reason to waste, if i'll be patching them).
Is my frugal nature trying to play a cruel trick on me (ie getting a bullet stuck in my lubesizer die)?

Thoughts?

a clean lubefree boolit will surely stick inside a clean lubefree sizer die.
You need some sort of lube, even as minimal as leftover lube residue
or greasy fingers handling the boolits.

no pressure on the lube and a little diluted dawn on the boolit. Any residual dawn left in the size die will be easy to remove before running greasers through it. I like using the dish soap because it is easier to clean off of the boolit than any boolit lube or case lube. I wrap mine clean and oil free.

Case sizing lube works well for that. It doesn't take much.

Thanks for the responses gents.
Looks like a bit of dish soap it is.

I'm doing the powder coating thing and have no problems going lubeless in my push through sizer. Watch out for rust if you are doing the dawn & water thing.
