I've been shooting at a public range for decades but for a number of reasons I don't care to do that, but I'm not willing to quit shooting. Tonight I was finally approved to purchase a membership in a very nice private range that is practically in my backyard! It's a little expensive but well worth it if I become more interested in clay birds. I can now drop in and shoot a box of 22's or check out a load in one of my centerfire guns without planning a day around it. Seems like some good folks, good facility and a well-run club.

I have a backyard range. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done.

I'd have one too, except it's always full of cows at the very moment I want to shoot. How do they know?

I know the feeling... Mine is always full of joggers... ;)

I can shoot from my loading bench out to 350 yards! I have plans to put in cameras and monitors to look at targets. With old puters, net cams and monitors it should be cheap and easy.

Congrats, and lucky as well! I sent my membership form and deposit in yesterday, and in about 2 years I might see you there. I am getting tired of the public range hassle, and the increasing news coverage of people trying to shut them down.

plenty of local public ranges here but I dream of shooting in my backyard. I envy you guys who can just shoot on your own property.

400 Yds on my land. If I move the bench to shoot down/ across the old easement I can get +1000 with the back stop being an old mine dump. Land behind mine is swamp that is county tax forgot, nobody goes back there except for me.

Had 4 other new members last night but it seems 2 years is the norm. Someone remarked that I was lucky to find a membership, wasn't in the mood to tell him I bought it from an old friend's widow. Send me a PM, texassako, we'll go shootin' someday.

My benchrest is 12 paces from my back door. I can set my target out to 880 yards if I want to. Nothing for trap or clays but then I am not much on shotguns anyway.
