I found this at the good will, it was half price day, so I got it for $1.50.
Feels like pewter, marks on paper too.

Went to their website. It says their stuff is an aluminum alloy.

Grrrrrrrrrr.

When I find no hallmarked stuff that might be pewter -at a price I'm willing to pay- I try to bend it.
If its bendable, it's mine.

You could have looked online if you had a smartphone. $200-$500 phone could have saved you $1.50 :)

Does anybody see it? Went to Goodwill, bought something that said Goodwill/Peace on it, helped a non-profit and still could not get it for a buck fifty. Dangit, some days. Stay away from the lottery tickets for seventeen days, three Hail Mary's and hope for the best. Gtek

You need to feel more pewter. That stuff isn't remotely the same.

99.9% of the time on the back of a peace it is marked pewter.

See how thick that piece is ?? If it looks like aluminum, that's what it is.... And I KNOW it's not
marked on the bottom - Pewter....... Mike

Yeah, I suck at the pewter. I've found a few pieces clearly stamped pewter. This one does have a hallmark stamp, but doesn't say pewter. I was really wondering with the inscription if there wasn't something wrong about turning it into bullets.
If you try writing on a piece of paper with aluminum, it doesn't work. This piece did, so that's where it got me.
Our goodwill has tons of mystery pieces, including a fair amount of silver plate, but that's pretty easy to distinguish from.

I see.

There's a lot of this armetale stuff on there, and many are even calling it pewter.

I see.

There's a lot of this armetale stuff on there, and many are even calling it pewter.

And very little of it sells.

Sounds like you DO have some real pewter, unless you have already melted it. Get to know the touch & feel of it......totally different than aluminum. Also weight is totally heavier!

Personally I hate melting anything down that is cast pewter......and I have over 200# of the stuff....dishes, candlesticks, display plates, and other stuff that is just to nice to make into boolit soup. I would rather buy the tin from roto than destroy works of art. They are worth far more than a few hundred rounds of slugs.

Same goes for the 800# of foundry type I have!
