For the first time ever I got frosted bases and shiny tips on a LEE 2 cavity soup can mold.

I am assuming that the sprue plate got too hot, but not sure how.

Are the safe and/or accurate enough to use?

If they pass all other visual checks I would use them. They do have a gc base and that should make things uniform under pressure.

Yes , use them. It's just a visual thing, not really a defect that will cause loss of accuracy or leading. It is safe to load and shoot them. I've shot a lot of frosted bullets and they work just fine.
Tip...cast a little slower but better is to use two moulds, let one cool while you fill the other.

I use frosty bullets all the time. My favorite saying. "10 years from now you'll never know the difference"

Frosty bullets look just like shiny bullets when coated with hi-tek... Don't forget to turn the fan on when casting .45's, you can get away with it on 9mm, but .45's frost quickly. Good thing you have to fill the lead more often on .45's or I wouldn't have noticed. My 1911's liked em just fine.

Probably the same place they get cast boolits harm your bore, cast boolits are low quality, cast boolits aren't accurate and etc. Internet lore and hype is rampant.

Definitely.

I have separated frosty boolits from unfrosted boolits. Kept in weighed batches, loaded and fired that way. No difference. We are talking smooth frosted boolits not one with pits or even porosity.

I like a little frosting. Think it helps hold the lube!

That as well. Particularly for traditional lube groove boolits that are tumble lubed.
