Does any forum member know a good place to send some parts for heat treat? I am at the end of my 50 build but need some heat treating done before I can go further. I am located in Iowa but any good reputable place will do. Most parts are 4140 with a few parts 4340. THANKS much for any info.

Blanchards comes to mind, but have no idea where they are located. Try google and see what pops up. They should be in some of the hits you will get. Frank

AR: Any local Heat treating outfit should be able to deal with 4140 or 4340 easily. It is very common material. There should be a heat treating outfit near you that can do the work.

If not,,, Then look for an area where there is a lot of machine shops. Heat Treating outfits tend to be located where there is a lot of machine shops, since lots of machined parts need to be treated after machining.

I don't know where in Iowa you are but most large cities have these services available if there is sufficient industry to support them.
