I have 2 38-55 rifles

Marlin Cowboy slugs at .380
Win 1885 slugs at .377

My 255gr drop at .381

1 140gr pinker drops at .376
1 140gr pinker drops at .378
1 140gr pinker drops at .380- .381
all with 50%ww and 50 soft lead

My only sizing die is .380

255gr and 140gr pinker .380- .381 Will chamber in the Win 1885 so I think it OK to shoot

What don't I know?

Thanks so much

My (Uberti) 1885 Highwall also slugs .377 and my favorite smokeless load uses an old NEI 304-grainer that drops .380-.381, loaded 'as cast'. Your 255/.380-.381 and 140/.380-.381 should work just fine 'as cast' in your Highwall but are gonna be undersize for your Marlin. If it were me, I think I'd beagle that 140/.378 out to .381-.382 and see how it chambers in the Marlin.

DCP,

My rule is if it'll chamber it's good to try. You never know until the trigger is pulled. My 38-55s bore is .3795 and after lapping the largest I could get my mould to drop was .3795. :( But I figured what the heck, try it. Zero leading with fantastic accuracy, even 500 rounds later.

That is the primary rule of reloading.
