Prolly a good name for that plane. It truly is an RV in the war plane field. Bomber, fighter, VIP vehicle. That plane has been configured to do about anything in terms of speed or weight, or both. The first ten of those suckers went to Iran when they were the good guys over there. Saw one take off straight up from the field at Pratt. The plane was made to use the heavy duty F100 engine, an overbuilt monster that could handle tons of heat, at the expense of gas mileage of course. Too expensive for today's type of action. Lighter and cheaper engines are the norm nowadays. Who needs a bomber at 1500 mph when you got stuff like cruise missles. ... felix

Felix, these were just coming in when I was getting out. dont think there were any operational squadrons yet just VF-124 which was a rag (training) squadron. Never got to see them fly off a carrier though I saw the Blue Angels fly them at an air show once. Lots of horse power in those birds.
