Ruger Gunsite Scout

I have subscribed and read through all the GSR threads I could find, and while there seeem to be some outliers, it seems that most people are having very good luck with cast in their GSR's. I'm currently waiting for a group buy on the TLC311-165-RF, and was trying to see if anyone had any of these already cast that I could pick up a sample of to load up a few and see what I have to look foward to. If not these specifically, what are you using in yours and do you have a handful I could try? What loads have you got the best results from? Thanks in advance for your response.

I'm loading a RCBS 308-200 SIL over some IMR 3031 and getting some good velocities and groups. I'm using a copper enriched alloy.

I've been tempted to get a scout and have it rebored to 358win. I think it would be a cool little gun with some peeps on it. I currently have a Ruger 77 all weather in 358 and don't want to mount an aftermarket front sight ramp on the barrel.

Thanks for the infor Lefty. So far I'm impressed by the GSR..we'll see how mine does shooting cast eventually.

Free up some cash for home improvements. Trying to get some things taken care of so my retirement plans can happen when I want them to. I will have another one some day and it will be a 358 win when I'm done with it.

I have shot Lee 309190 GC and 311299 from Lyman and NOE moulds in mine. I haven't gotten any spectacular groups to show yet but I have only tried one load also.

It is waiting for some development time to show up.

My primary usage for this gun is long range Silhouette so my primary load is with recycled Jwords, but someday I will make a cast load that will shoot 500 meters.

dtHunter has been shooting 311299's out to 1000 yards from a Rem 700 in .308 with very good results, so there is no reason why they won't go that far from a GSR.

.358 Win ROCKS in a short action.
I used to have one with a 18" barrel built on a little short Mauser action and a receiver sight and a full length stock.
It was really sweet. It never saw a copper jacket.
