The Grandson and I just got done breaking in the new mold I got in the 225107 group buy . Worked very well and I am very happy with it. It is the first NOE mold that I have owned and it won't be the last. Now I just have to work up some loads

I just bought the same mold from NOE website yesterday for use in my CZ 527 223 bolt gun. I can't wait to get mine so I too can start some load development. I may have to call on some of the more experienced and knowledgeable members here for some pointers 'cause I've not cast anything smaller than a .30 cal. before.

It's a nice mold. It's kinda hard to get the drip perfect to fill those tiny holes

Good read on .22 casting along with a couple others at castpics.net

Thanx for the read guys. It seemed as the first cavity I fill was terrible fill out and the gas check cavities wouldn't fill well defined. No matter if I started from the front or the back

Mine dropped right at 225. They work great in my contender . They are too big for my old Winchester. I ran them through a 225 sizing die. looks like I am going to have to get a 224 or maybe a 223 to get them to work in the model 43. It slugs out to a 223 groove diameter. The contender slugs at 224 and they chamber easily . Mt Chambers is right on "Cast hot and cast fast, the secret to making tiny boolits "

Are you guys turning up the temp of your pots or just keeping it on a hot plate?

Just last month, I finished up a thousand or so of the 225107s. I ran the pot at 800 with the mold on a solid top hot plate set to wide open.

both, Heated with sprue plate down. Once the mold got hot enough the bullets filled out nicely. I did add some tin also.

I guess that was my issue. I was afraid to warp and didn't run it as hot. With the Lee molds I'm not too concerned about ruining. But these noe and mihec molds are something to care for

I bought the 3 cavity & 1 cav HP drilled for thermocouple probe in the recent group buy; The single cavity HP mold and pin was preheated to 350 F and held for several minutes. Casting at 725 F @ a 15 second cycle rate the mold temp dropped to a steady state temp of 260 F, even increasing the melt to 825 mold temp only went up 10 deg. (outside temp was pretty warm at 92 F)
I had an issue with wrinkles and could not get rid of them even brought pot up to 900 F, later discovered they were caused from the small sliver of frozen lead (drip) on the spout. The small sliver is easily remelted when casting larger boolits but not with the small 22's at 35 grs. I drilled my pot out for filling 12 slug molds. The pin ejected without issue and the tiny pills fell from cavity. Have not tried the 3 cavity yet.
