I am wondering what is the best size.224 or .225? Or do you need to bore slug your barrel to really know?

I would say try both, or slug the bore. I found after trials that .225 works best for my Ruger No. 3.

My moulds all drop at .226 - .228 so I use a .228 sizer to crimp/seat the GC and lube only.

Yes I know I slugged all my other rifles but am a little hesitant to do the 223 because of it being so small. I do have a brass rod that fits, I just need to cut it into 6 inch sections to do it.

I have been using 225 in some of my rifles with an alloy of 4% tin and 6% antimony.
I have a 227 sizer on order to better fit some of my rifles throats.

I size to .225" for my Contender factory 223 Rem and a rechambered Contender 22lr to 22 K-Hornet. Works great in both. The 22lr is supposed to be .222" to .223" but never slugged it.

If it will chamber, shoot it. I so mine as cast and they are generally .2255-.226.
