I have a friend that purchased a new .500 S & W today with a 10.5 " barrel. ( way too much revolver for me ! !)

I will be helping him by casting the Lee, 440 gr. SWC, g/c bullet.

Any good loads that someone can offer for that particular bullet in the .500 S & W cartridge.

Thanks,
Ben

It’s too bad that not many members here are interested in 500S&W. It is in my opinion & observation, one of the finest rounds that can get benefit by cast boolit.
Anyways, for 440gr cast, if you are looking for top velocity and performance, you can’t go wrong with H110/W296 up to around 40gr or so, depending on inside case volume. If you like mild but powerful loads, I would suggest AA1680 40~42gr.

475/480 does quite a bit with the 500 S&W

I got a mould from him and some load suggestions for a NEF and 350 gr boolits.

22gr of Bluedot did a great job for me.

sorry I'm not more help.

The Lee 440 suffered from pretty bad bullet pull with hot loads in my brothers 500. It's a nice looking bullet, but doesn't have much of a crimp groove.

I'm also a 500 S&W owner. I cast the bullet you mentioned, have had some good results. They are 440 Gr bullet, but my mold usually drop them at 446 grains, and with a gas check they come out being 458 gr on average. 32gr of Lil'Gun gave me really good results and a fairly accurate round. I lube them with Carnauba Red. I also shoot 335, 350, 500, 535, 600, 625, and 700 grain cast bullets as well if you want to try some of those, I can give you my data to try.

Ben I aquired a new BFR(7.5 barrel) late in Aug. in 500.Sean( 475/480) has sold me molds for it but I haven't done any cast'n yet. I still gotta get dies and brass, and a round-tuit. I'll be a watch'n for 500 and BFR threads......
