I see on gun sucker and flea bay a few barreled actions for sale. does anyone know what the deal is on these? don't know why a person would strip down a gun and sell the pieces...do you?:?:

IMHO - if that's the only way to come-up with a certain action that's desired, and perhaps there's something about the stock that's not
up-to-expectations.

Or..... when re-barreling and restocking @ the same time.

.... for a ciouple of reasons.

About 15 years ago I bought a Rem 700 that was chambered in the 1970's era .17 Remington. Long obsolete . Barrel was horribly corroded, but, I was buying it (cheap,as in $250) just for the receiver and bolt. Why ? The old .17 Remington shared the same bolt face as .223. Add a .223 Krieger barrel, bed the stock and I had a true 1/4" rifle.
