Hey all, been lurking here for a while and have learned alot.
I have a ingot of some sort. maybe someone here has seen it before. I recieved from a local Hospital maintence worker. We left in a pot at 8oo degrees and along with wheel wieghts for over an hour and it never move or even distorted. It is fairly heavy and when scratched it is shinny. any ideas.
I highlighted the raised portion and can't make anything of it...

...............gebudjr, welcome to the board. Pure lead melts at the highest temp. All of the common boolit casting alloys melt at a lower tempurature. If it wasn't affected at 800 degrees I'd use it for a door stop. At tempuratures approching 1K in temp you run the risk of fumes and the risk isn't worth it.

Thank you sir for your reply. One more question, If I tried to heat in a smaller qty would this help in melting?

Short answer is no. Size of the sample has nothing to do with the chemical make up.
