Hello Folks,

The 9mmP is a cartridge I've never loaded. Recently I acquired an H&K P7 (used to have a P7M8 20 years ago and traded it off, regretted it ever since). Digging through my collection of dies I found a set for this cartridge. I suspect the FL die is an old fashioned "steel" die, without a carbide sizing ring. I certainly don't see one in there.

Does anybody know for sure? Do you know what "LUG" stands for?

Thanks, Tom

Ah ha! Got the LUG part, short for Luger. :-)

We would really have to know the make of the die and the approx. date made to even think about answering that question as posted. The lack of a ring is suggestive.

How hard is it to lube a few cases??

9mm is significantly tapered, not so good for carbide rings. Probably steel, unless there
is an obvious ring of carbide. I know that there are carbide dies for 9mm.

Hi Wayne and Bill,

Thanks for the information. The dies are very old. They belonged to a friend who bought them at the same time he purchased a new S&W M39.

I'll plan on lubing cases. My next quest is to find some jacketed bullets; the H&K P7 manual warns against boolits because of the gas system.

Take care, Tom
