I have noticed that a new Buck 110 from Amazon is less expensive than many used older ones on fleabay. Is this because the product is not as good as it was or is it just what happens on fleabay? New ones as good as old ones?

Thanks

I bought a "Plane Jane" 110 folder about 8 years ago for $30ish. The quality is just fine. If you do get one, just go ahead and bust a 1/4" off the tip and blend it back to a new point. I have never seen one where the tip didn't bust off at some point, no pun... I went through 6 pages of 110s on fleabay, and never did see one that wasn't "Custom" or "Collectable", so I couldn't figure out what they were asking for a normal one.

If you go to the company web sight there is 3 or 4 different buck 110's. Mine was $55 a couple years ago.
If you break the tip on one send it back and the will repair it for free or a low cost. Sent my #55 back repaire d for free, and I told them it was my fault.

I bought one from Amazon for my brother at Christmas time, it and the leather sheath appeared to be as good as my 1990's vintage one.

Years ago when I was a knife dealer as a hobby, Buck 110`s were about half what the suggested asking price was for dealer cost.Robert

I've had mine from the 70's still have it and although it and me have many years between us still takes a good edge. Frank

Back in 2000 Buck opened a plant in China.
Most of their knives are still made in the US but i would really watch where they are made. The difference in pricing might be where the knife was made.

Walmart sells a lot of China made buck knives. They seem, to be smaller folders.

Thanks for the help. As best I can tell there have been a few changes in the type of stainless steel used for the blade over the years; however the material currently being used is very serviceable. I'll never know the difference in any negative way. Buying a Buck knife made in China doesn't appeal to me and so glad to read the 110 is still made here. I would buy an old used one for more money before buying a Chinese one.
