The last time I qualified [Sheriffs Office] we shot our duty ammo and I picked up the brass. I have a bag full of once fired 40 S & W I will give to anyone that will use it. I even threw them into corn cob media for a couple laps. I have had guys send me bullets for nothing and I would like to return the favor.

..........My wife is a deputy probation officer. At one time the county sheriff's office was going to take over the PO's, so they had to be armed. During the shooting portion to qualify you had to shoot factory loaded ammo. I bought her 200 rounds of Hornady 38 WC target loads.

That evening I asked for the brass and got that blank stare. After I calmed down I apologized for scaring her into thinking I had had a mild stroke, but if she could please, make an effort to bring the empties home. The next week there was a box of maybe 10x10x20" dimension sitting on the workbench and it was FULL of brass.

She said a trustee saw her picking up brass, and after asking what she was doing he gave her all he'd picked up also.

Years ago when I shot with the El Paso TX Police dept, they used a lot of reloaded .38... loaded by trustees! They stopped that after a double-charge took the top strap and the upper three cylinders right off a S&W snubbie!

We have to clear our own range - no inmates allowed to touch the brass.
the worst thing was asking if I could have the .223 brass, (our 9mm is Blazer aluminum, gah), and having the armorer tell me it has to be accounted for, and destroyed or recylced by state law. My definition of recycled doesn't fit thiers...dagnabbit.

Slick I replied to our PM and upon receiving your home address I will mail out. Yeah we use the Blazer for our shooting sessions but once a year we blaze our duty ammo. I scrounge it up but have been told on many occasions not to shoot reloads through my duty gun[s].

I've got a Sig in .357 sig, and thought about getting the 40cal barrel for it. Is the 40 a better cast shooter?

allways a good idea if you have something to give away to put it on the site auction and raise a little money for the maitenance of this site.

I would be interested in 9mm, probably 3000 or more - those submachineguns go through lots of it. Good thing I cast!

Fish, what bullet and loads are you shooting through your sub guns? I'd be interested in 9mm brass also.
