I'm looking for ideas for this bullet (Lyman 225438, actual weight w/ GC 47 grains)
in .223. I have many powders, incl. 296 and 2400. I want to keep it around 15-1800 fps.
Suggestions?

webmaster: I'm putting it here rather than "CB Loads" for better exposure.

I run twenty-four hundred in heavier bullets in that cartridge and it normally works pretty well if I keep the velocity at or over two thousand . If it was me working with a lighter bullet like that and wanted speeds in the teens I think I'd use something in the burning range of Unique or a bit faster . Perhaps one of the "dot" powders or 700-X maybe .

Thanks Jack. Happen to have a couple pounds of 700x. Makes sense.

Just for what it's worth , I've been using a 225415 tumble lubed but without gas check , or sizing with a light charge of Bullseye and they are moving at 1350 or so depending on primer . Making something work well in the teens shouldn't be to hard I think .
