I bought a HG 68 Mold. I bought some Tulamo large pistol magnum primers because it was all that I could find.

I have some Solo 1000 and some Bullseye powder.

Has anyone used the HG 68 bullet with magnum primers with either of these powders??

What would be a starting load with these powders????

Thank you!!!

Go to the powder companies websites. They both have good load data available.
Or look in your load manual for a 200 SWC, you do have manual, right?

Yes, I have a Lyman Manual.

Start low and work up as always. I have found no noticeable difference in using magnum primers over non, but if you start low and work up you are GTG. 1.250" a good OAL for these.

Look in your Lyman manual for their 200 SWC. Start with their starting load. Long as you don't get stupid and try to hot rod e gun all will be fine.

It says on Wideners site that those kinds of primers from overseas are harder when called magnum and are not more powerful than their regular primers. American made primers are more powerful if called magnum.

Never tried mag primers in .45 ACP, back down to the starting load in any good loading
manual for a 200 gr boolit or jbullet and work up slowly. Taper crimp as a separate operation
to ~.470 or tighter, set LOA between 1.250 and 1.260 as your particular throat requirements
require.

I've been shooting those primers over the standard load of red dot with no ill effects. They're just as good as using non-magnum, and I see no real difference.

I used your data and shot the bullets for the first time yesterday. I shot them out of a Glock 30 with a lone wolf barrel. I had no leading and the accuracy was very good. I used 4 grains of Bullseye with the HG 68 bullet. Accuracy was excellent. Other than one jamb, the pistol cycled great. Thanks for the info.

Ive used about 15,000 Fed magnum primers with a saeco 068 in 45 acp with Bullseye , Tight group & WSL powder with great sucess just work up the load with mag primers and stay away from max loads
I too picked up 25,000 years ago for a really good price !
