That is awesome. Wow, the feelings it must have stirred in that pilot, when he saw that. Just another example of the "Greatest Generation." What got me was how blithely or unconcerned he was as he talked about his missions, even though they were really dangerous.

Great!!!! Thanks for posting. Quite a few Americans flew Spits in the Eagle Squadron of the RAF before the US entered the war.

Yep my great uncle(17) did so, hitch hiked from Texas to Canada, trained to fly a Lancaster and then suddenly had to learn to fly a Spit in time for the Battle of Britain(flying a Spit in the Battle of Britain is kinda mind blowing to an aviation buff like myself), after that when the US got in the war he went to the Pacific to fly P38s.

Very cool! My father in law is still alive and healthy, flew P51s for Army Air Corp out of England in WW2. Not
so many left anymore, it is great that they go his story on film.
