With a heavy heart, I am making my first post here to let everyone know my father and fellow castboolits member known as Garcia, passed at the young age of 57 on May 22 in his sleep. He has taught me all I know about the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, relaoding and life in general. Unfortunately with a busy schedule I haven't been able to learn the art of casting, although I will learn to cast from a good friend of his, Ralph as well as you all here. Thank you in advance.

I was urged by a fellow member here whom I spoke to via email to let everyone know here of his passing. He will be missed.

I love you Dad.

Yes. He lived south of atlanta.
Yes, in Newnan, your father recently bought one of my molds. I enjoyed working a deal with him on the mold, he was quite the character.
Again I am sorry he has passed.

Most likely my mother scrolling around his computer trying to make sure all his loose ends are getting tied up.

Thanks again to everyone and their outpouring of support.

Correct on all accounts!

Which mold in particular was it out of curiosity. He has several.

He had just received a 9mm mold from Slovenia and had cast and lubed a few hundred of them for me the day of his passing. He was so proud of them

Sounds like you have great memories of your Dad. Cherish them and pass those memories on to your own children. Those 9mm boolits now have great value as memory keys.

My very sincere condolences.

It's never easy loosing any of your parents. There are so many things I wish I could still ask them and show them. Take solace in knowing that they are still alive on the other side of the veil, they watch over you, and your family will be together again someday (forever).

Losing either of your parents is a hard one. In my case I think losing my dad was a little harder for me. It was 1996 and I still miss him. You are in our prayers for peace during this time. Sounds like you have some good memories of your dad and they will carry you a long way in the coming years.

Sorry to hear about your loss. That is way too young.

Getting to cast from a brand new MP mold on your last day is
probably as good as it gets for a serious caster. Now that mold
isn't just a work of art, but has a very special place.

It would have been a bigger shame if he had missed out on it
by a day or two after waiting for his custom made jewel for
what was probably a good long time.

osteodoc08;
I am truly sorry for your loss. I lost my father at his age of 49 - way too young to go. However, he gave me a great foundation in life and I was fortunate to have worked with him for several years on a daily basis (he owned a small business). The pain never goes away but the intensity lessens a bit over the years. I will be 78 in a couple of days and I still find myself quoting him and his words of wisdom have had a great deal to do with the man I am and hope to be...

He gave you a big gift in sharing those lifetime gifts of hunting and shooting. That doesn't happen for everyone and I am sure you'll treasure those experiences for the rest of your life. I have found that it helps to focus on the good times together...

Wow. I will always be amazed at how losing a member here feels like losing a friend, the people here are like a big family.
Prayers for you and your family, my father is 56 right now and I can't imagine what I'd do without him.
Also a big thank you for logging on and letting us know what happened, rather than leaving us to wonder after awhile.
I am sorry for your loss and I hope you find some peace after going through what we all face someday but never expect is coming. God Bless,
Cowboy.

Haha, I can only imagine how many molds your father has. He bought one that was made in Solvania aswell, its 45-270 SAA hollow point mold. I believe thats how its stamped.

I am sorry for your loss. It sounds like you spent some good quality time with him. Cherish the time you spent and look only at the good times instead of the time you could have spent when your schedule was so busy. I made the mistake of always being too busy and I can never make up for what I lost. I know that someone will teach you and they will have the same kindness that your father had.

Newnan, Georgia.

Your dad and I had a nice discussion one time about Newnan and a little town nearby, Moreland, that was home to one of my favorite columnists and writers of all time, Lewis Grizzard.

My prayers and thoughts are with you. Your daddy was a fine man.

I'm saddened to hear of Garcia's passing. I will be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. Cast Boolits is more than just a website, it's a community. We mourn the loss of every single member when we lose one. We'll be here for you if you get the urge to reconnect with your Dad through his love of casting.

I will add my thoughts and prayers to everyone else's here. I lost my mom and dad within 4 years of each other (1983 and 1987), and lost my best friend to cancer 3 years ago. Mom was 56, dad was 65, and my best friend was 59. I is always a difficult thing to deal with, but keep them in your heart and keep your faith in God, and He somehow gives you strength to go on and He has a way of making the best times with them easiest to remember and the hardest of times with them seem to fade into the background. As long ago as I lost my parents, I still think of all the times with them often, and I still pray for their fulfillment in Him.

I cant believe Tom passed, I chatted with him all the time on the Marlinowners site. The last we talked he had sent me information on a guy selling Linotype for 1.25 a pound and when I contacted him he would not ship. Tom drove to the guys house and purchased a bunch of it (if not all) and was selling it to get his money back and then some. I was wondering why I hadn't heard from him.

I am so sorry to hear of his passing, I will miss the PM's back and forth with him. I lost my dad 2 months ago but at least he had a long life (just missed his 80th) but Tom was only 57, He never told me that he had any health problems in all our conversations.

I posted on Marlinowners.com to let his other friends know of his passing, so sad.

May good bless him and take him into his house to wait for his family members to join him one day.

Our Family here on Cast Boolits have lost a Great Friend And Fellow Caster. I remember him posting his input into many of the subjects we discuss here. I'm sorry for your great loss and your length of time with your father cut short at such a early age. Just remember that he will always be at your side. Take Care David

I was fortunate to have met and known Tom. He loved to help people. I can't think of a finer epitaph than that. He was a treasure in many ways and introduced me to another treasure, Ralph. I have said many a prayer for Tom, you, your brother and mom. The suddenness of it all has really added to the pain. Tom loved casting boolits.
