Just a note that I may be off the board for the next 10 days. I am now a traveling RN, first assignmen, and have excepted a position in Biddeford, ME. I will be in ME for 3 days, NH for 1 or 2 days and the rest in VT. I am interested in meeting our members in northern New England. Take care.

make sure you stop by the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, ME....about a half hour south of Biddeford. Biggest gun department in the world I think.

One day, I hope to go back to Me. I used to go there when I lived in Ct, and I hope to open a school somewhere there.
We shall see.
Kennebunkport is great. They roll up the sidewalks at night and the water seems to disappear.
Good luck in Me. Lots of good folk there.

When are you going to be up here Mike? Biddeford is about 45 minutes from me.

The Weathervane is pretty good, but better eats are had a short ride north. Head north from the Trading Post and turn right onto the road leading to Wells Beach, where you will find Billy's Chowder House. Small place, cozy atmosphere, and the best seafood I have ever eaten. Of course, on your way there, stop in at Yummy's. Wall to wall, floor to ceiling, candy. All the old favorites, lots of new stuff, and plenty I had never heard of. Oh, and there is a salt water taffy buffet.

I remember a place up there called WARRENS. Was right on the water. Great chowder, seafood, and salad bar. Last time there was around 1995.

Lots of good places to go to up that way. The town of Wells has a bunch of cool antique stores. It is just south of Kennbebunkport. Both are just north of Kittery Trading Post. Boston is only a few hours away. Sig Sauer isn't that far away either but you probably won't get a tour of the plant. You will want to go to the Sig Pro Shop/Academy/Range where they have all sigs made on display. They also have some one of a kind sigs there for sale.

If you get to Burlington, VT we ought to try to connect. I'm only 12 mi. from Burlington, my daughter works at FAHC, the big hospital there.

I've been fed at Billy's. I can point to out-of-the-way places in Rhode Island that are equal, but none better. (Daughter #2 lives in Yarmouth, with her brood.)

Careful what you have in the car if you drive. I have always driven across NH and VT to avoid MA in recent years, since one empty cartridge case can lead to a felony charge there. Now with NY gone to the dogs . . . .

Might as well hit Freeport and go to LL Bean too. It's just a bit north of Biddeford. It's open all the time, in fact they don't have locks on the doors because they never close. Shop in the middle of the night and avoid the crowd.

Calais,,,,,,,,,,,home of Johnson's true value. if memory serves me and its at the same location just across street from the Boston shoe store.it was the old J.C.Penny store. where as a very small boy I would go into pennys and watch all sales action going on. just to see the sales girls put all transactions into wire baskets on the 1st floor and pull down on a long rope with a handle on the end and send the basket up to the 2nd floor and another girl would take the money out and mark the slip paid in full and send it back down to the sales lady. there was at least 10 or so baskets going all over the store from all directions. it was a very large store. some time in the late 40's they closed the store down. saddened me I remember. and johnsons moved in. its where my mom brought her 1st and only washing machine. "a Maytag ringer $40.00 " on time $5.00 a month.remember a scrub board? there was six of us. all washing done on a scrub board by hand .my lord. GD
