DGV,
You can send therm to me and I will be glad to test them for you.
I use a Cabine Tree tester.
PM is coming at you.

Me too, I have the LBT tester.
But Why? Shooting is the best way to see if anything works. Tough enough to take rifling, BHN is just some kind of indicator that can give the same readings with all kinds of alloys.
Even Elmers lead, tin mix was tough but very expensive today.

DGV,
I received your samples today. VERY nice looking casts.
I appreciate the "extra" you put in the box, that was totally unnecessary, but was very much appreciated.

#1
.458 at the driving band
.384 at the lube groove
.735 overall length
269.8gr
Hardness at nose: 23BHN
Hardness at base: 21BHN
Hardness at lube groove: 20BHN

#2
.458 at the base
.384 in the lube groove
.737 overall length
266.1gr
Hardness at nose: 21BHN
Hardness at base: 19BHN
Hardness at lube groove: 19BHN

Keep in mind, hardness will continue to increase for several weeks after casting unless you water quench, then they will slowly get softer with time.
