Cast up a bunch of 405gr 457 diameter boollts. Anyone know if I can shoot this out ot a Ruger blackhawk?

I think the diameters are usually a bit too big for the 45-70 bullets to be in a 45 colt. You may be able to size it down in stages, but you might use your lube grooves and even then, I don't know if it would be small enough for a blackhawk.

Like some other .45 Colt shooters, I had to try the heavy-for-caliber 400 gr. boolits for the .45-70 that were sized down to .452. They shot very accurately in a 5-shot Hamilton Bowen built .45 Colt, a Dan Wesson .45 Colt and a Ruger 6-shot Bisley in .45 Colt. However, with even moderate loads, 4 rounds would jack the 5th round out of crimp (using either H110 or W820 - didn't try any faster powders). I have a quantity of 400 gr. boolits that I am going to dump into some pure lead in order to cast some lighter boolits for my .45 Colts. 'Tuck (as in Kentuck)
