Ruger is to open third plant for 10 new lines of firearms. Can you say shotguns? - among other really cool firearms.

Thank you for that. I sent it to my son. I have no idea if he wants to change his focus, but his undergraduate degree is Mechanical Engineering. He would love to move back to New Hampshire, unfortunately his wife would not enjoy it nearly as much!

Sure makes my Ruger stock look good--it has really performed in the past year. Good guns, good product and a good investment. Now if they will build a plant in Texas, my stars are in line.

That is real music to my ears.....maybe others will follow suit to keep up with the demand that the left denies exists.

Jeff,

Actually, not so much. Bill Ruger was a neat guy in some ways but he was a hunter and NOT into self defense
guns, especially small, concealable guns or high cap mags at all. He ordered Ruger to stop selling 20 and
30 round Mini14 mags to civilians many years ago when there was no law about it at all anywhere. He would not
approve any small, easily concealed handguns - cop service revolvers and big semiautos, yes but no small
guns for civilian self defense. Ruger used to make a 9mm and 40 cal carbine, but they were for
police sales only and most civilians have never even seen one. They were not successful in the
police market and are gone. Some guy used a Ruger .44 Mag semiauto to kill some people in a public
place many decades ago and Ruger stopped making the gun with a detachable mag (only 5 rounds IIRC)
and a match to the 10/22 in looks. I think they made it a 3 rd tube slow to reload mag for a while, then
stopped making it altogether, but I am a bit fuzzy about the details, might have that wrong.

Now that Bill and his son are both gone from the company, Ruger is selling many small pistols for self defense
purposes and high cap mags are just another legal commodity. I know people that go so angry at Bill
Ruger being PC back in the day that they said they would never again buy a Ruger firearm.

I am not of that mind and have many Rugers that I love, but I was always very disappointed in Bill's
butthead, politically correct anti-self defense attitude about guns. Clearly, Ruger has figured out
that there is a HUGE market for small, concealeable self-defense handguns.

I seem to remember a different reason behind the 5 round mags, more like a sellout than any personal belief.

IIRC the 5 round mag at Ruger was a political concession, kinda' like the keyholes on S&W guns! But yes, Bill Ruger had very strong opinions and wanted the company to concentrate on "sporting" firearms, and shunned the personal protection firearms. And since he owned the company, he did what he wanted.

Fortunately the company is a little more in tune with public demand these days. I hope the new plant comes to Texas.

I would love to see one open up here, it just wouldn't be feasible, except for maybe some smaller custom or semi custom shop.
But if we can't have it I would also like to see it go to Texas.
