Just getting back to casting after a many years break. I just can't afford to shoot many jacketed bullets at todays' prices. B'sides, I'm just starting to load for a 8x58RD Rolling Block with a .329 bore.
Lee moulds haven't gotten much better in the last 25 years but I still managed to get a few useable bullets.
Anyways, while I was lubing them with some Lee Liquid Alox, I got to thinking that LPS 3 might be a good substitute and doesn't smell too bad either. Has anyone tried the LPS 3 as a boolit lube?

What is LPS 3?
LPS 3 is a long term preserevative for metal that leaves a waxy coating 3-4 mils thick.
I have heard that it may contain Alox 350.

Go to www.lpslabs.com and you can learn about the product and read the MSD page about contents.

It is not what I would call a lubricant. All the bullet lubes I have used have at least one component that is a lubricant.

I don't shoot some of my pistols a lot. These get treated internally and externally with LPS-3. For the semi-autos, before I can get them to function reliably I have to take the slides off and give them some actual lubricant on the bearing surfaces.

I use LPS 3 as a mould preservative. It works great for that but I don't think it hardens up enough to use as a boolit lube. I have moulds I've treated with it year ago and it is still very soft. But I could be wrong.

LPS-3 is great to spray into your car doors, etc, to keep the doors from rusting out too.
