I sent my OLD lyman 450 to Lyman since there was a lot of play in the ram. They sent me a letter back saying there was no possible repair but offering me a new 4500 with a heater for $89 shipped. I thought this was a good deal so I took them up on it even though I didn't really want to spend the money right now. I guess I have a spare heater now of the 450 type. I could have had it for $10 less without the heater, but figured for $10 I couldn't not get it. So I'm looking forward to getting this new sizer. The old one was really tired. Should have it in a couple days.

I got the same offer from Lyman when I sent me old 450 in for repair. I took them up on it since I'd been thinking about getting a 4500 anyway and I couldn't get it for a better price anywhere else. I like the 4500 real well.

I have a (gray) Lyman 450 that has been working like a champ since 1968. A friend gave me an early nineties (orange) 450 that leaked like a basket. I sent the leaker to Lyman, and after a month of no communication was surprised and delighted to receive a brand new (hamertone grey) 450, no charge. This freebie happened abut 4-5 years ago, about when they introduced the 4500. Guess it makes a big difference who opens the package or answers the phone at Lyman.

I wish I would have seen that first. Oh, well can't be changed now, and I still end up with a new machine. Still I could have used that money for something else.
