I bought my "smelter" on sale at Bass Pro some years ago. It works great with a Harbor Freight cast iron dutch oven (it holds well over 100 lbs).

I was considering going this route. I just ordered the fish fryer and had it shipped to the store that is 15 minutes from me. I'll have to hit up harbor freight. I'm not sure if they will have it in the store near me, but their shipping isn't bad either.

Thanks for the heads up!

Here's a picture of mine smelting a 92 lb ingot. It has enough heat output for that without a problem.

And, for you "doubters" out there, here is a picture of it sinking into the melt:

With my brother helping with the heavy lifting, we did 650 lbs in about three hours (making little ingots out of big ingots):

That looks almost exactly like the used turkey fryer I got for $25 off CL. Good deal!

Ordered one after seeing this thread. Of course I had to order a new reel to get the free shipping offer.

That particular ingot weighed 92 lbs. That's why I had my younger brother help me with that batch. Over the years I have received ingots that weighed over 100 lbs from a lead refinery. They store in small areas but they are sure hard to handle....
