For years I've been harping on a slide action .223 that takes M16 magazines. What a cast plinker that would be.

Today, the American Rifleman came and here's a Remington Model 7615. .223, slide action, takes a M16 magazine.

Got to check the twist on it. If it's cast friendly, I'm for one.

Only thing missing is a nice wooden walnut stock but I guess you can't have everything./beagle

It's a 1 in 9 twist and it's listed as Lawenforcement.

It looks like someone has allowed the 7600 to cross breed to accept the Colt magazines.

They talk about the 870 design because most law enforcement do not know the pump action rifles exist. Also Remington made the 760 in 223 caliber in the early 60's. But now those guns are collector type guns.

I wonder if they can keep up with the demand.

I heard when the assault rifle ban was in it's beginning Colt said that if there was a total ban they would make their AR15 a pump action. Boy, that would be very easy to do.

An interesting design, for sure. Even Feinstein and Boxer might not bitch too much. If its sale price is significantly less than a bolt rifle so chambered, it would be a worthwhile design for sporting venues. I'm sure the rifles will cost less than a Bushmaster, and will be worth it too.

Mostly, I think the design is for squeamish cop admin types that don't want their personnel to be seen with AR-15 style rifles. This roll-out coincides with the lifting of the AW ban on high-cap mags and the drying-up of surplus M-16A1 rifles distributed by the government to local agencies in the late 1990's-early 2000's, too. There is some validity to the training sequence and operational controls similarity to the Rem 870 that is almost a standard in cop cars--my agency did have some pump-action Rem 30-06's mixed in with those NICE pre-'64 M-94's in 30-30. So, the idea isn't totally off-the-wall or without precedent by any means.

Oh man, that 1-9 twist kills my desire. I was hoping for a 1-12. Still, it's a neat rig and with the right mould should do all right. I'll have to consider that a little bit./beagle

Concider hard, that 1 in 9 twist in my 260 gives me fits.
