Good day.

Been shooting a g17 for a long time with plated berrys but picked up a m&p 9 as a second 9 and it is my understanding that cast boolits can be used in the mp9.

For those of you using cast boolits what mold do you recommend? Just looking to make 125pf. Have black talons for anything fancier than that.

Thanks

Well, each gun is different - you may have to try a few different bullets. Me personally, I like heavier boolits in my 9mm - I use the 147 gr bbfp - I think you could make minor of with them.

Mine loves did I say LOVES NOE rfn 135 grain. I have the 9c and it will shoot a $&!? of alot better than me. 25 yds supported I can put the whole clip pretty much touching. Less than an inch anyway.

I use Lyman's 356634 cast with wheel weights and water dropped. That is a mould that's hard to find though. Their 356402 is still to be found and may work well for you.

I shoot my cast boolits in my Glock 19 with the stock barrel. If you'd like to do some reading here. It will open your eyes to a whole new world.

And welcome to the site to both you and repawn.

+1. I have the RG4, which can do HPs too. Very forgiving boolit, which is what you want–the 9mm
can be tough.

That is one I have been interested in trying - good to hear it works well for you.

LEE 125 2R and LEE 125 RF both work very well in the G17.
Start low and work up. Size at .357-.358. .358 works best for me.

I use the six cavity Lee 356-125-2R. It works well for me. Feeds well in every gun I've shot it in, plenty accurate. I'm normally shooting it in a Ruger SR9c

Works fine in Glocks as well FYI.

I have a M&P Shield, my wife has a M&Pc we shoot Lee 358-125-RF sized with a Lee .356 push through, cast from clip on wheel weights, water dropped and lubed with LLA. Load is 3.5gr Unique, very mild, accurate and no leading. Like Catshooter said do some reading on here there are a lot of 9mm threads.

Really like the Lee 356-125-2R in my Glock and CZ along with Lyman 356402. Still consider Lyman 358242 the most accurate. The all shoot great in a Hi-Pointe 995TS also.

And mine drops at .358. Perfect for my 9mm

I'm still keeping an eye on what I'm currently working on.
M&P 9mm. lee 356-124 2R, with either 3.7 gr 700x, or 4.2 of Unique.
I haven't been able to determine which load is best. I think they're both pretty close.

This may help.

My choice for 9mm is the Lee 356-120 TC, I found it shoots better than the 356-124 2R in my 9mm's.

+1 on 356-120 TC conventional lube design.

The 356-120 TC makes a great round. In fact, I'd set up to load a few hundred for my wife's use in her SR9 and SR9c. Flawless in her Rugers and my Glocks.

First, let me say that's a handsome looking round, there.

When you're working up a load for that 356-120, where do you start?
I only seem to find loads for 115 and 124/125.

And side question, what diameter does that mold usually drop (and alloy of your choice)?
I ask, as I am looking at what mold to start, have a pistol with a .356-357 (I thought I knew, but now I gotta get a micrometer to be sure) barrel and was planning on starting with Lyman #2-equivalent (since I can't get lead wheel weights here in NYS).

I have learned enough about loading with lead to know just enough to realize that I don't know squat, yet!

Thanks,
'Sifrid

I've shot the heck out of the Lee 356-125 2R since the 1980s, but bought the 356-120 TC last year. Cast from range scrap, mine are dropping .3585 and 125 grains. The contour of the boolit almost perfectly aligns with the feed ramp of my Taurus 709 Slim which is kind of narrow. The Lone Wolf conversion barrels for my Glock 22C and 23 are wider but the boolit feeds like butter in those as well. I size to .358 for 9mm which has worked very well in every 9mm I've owned or been allowed to shoot. This boolit is becoming my favorite

I managed to track down a 6 cav 120TC mould. Will post results when it gets here.

You will be pleased with that boolit and with that mold.

Look up "Leementing" and do it. Get some Bullplate lube if you don't have
it.

as for loads for a 120/125 gr. 9mm: 3.5–4 grains of BE will get you from 900-1050 fps.

Look in the Lyman CB manual for lots of powders and loads for the 356402 CB's. I like 231, HS6 and Power Pistol myself with the Lee 120TC cast out of a 3/3/94 alloy and sized to .356 (works in all my 9's). I have to seat to 1.055" OAL for proper feeding and rifling throat clearance. I run them from 1000 to 1200 fps without any leading using CR Red lube.

Lee 124 TC work well for me. WW, tumble lubed with Lee Alox and a few grains of Bullseye. No sizing, sot great from G17 with LW barrel.
