Bought some ingots at a garage sale this weekend. Real cheap.Got'em home and
tested with Cabin Tree tester. They are about 1lb. each and tested at 20 to 1 mix.
(I think about 9 bhn). Are there any math wizards out there that could tell me
what proportions of lead, wheel weights, tin (for a 10 lb. mix) to obtain a Lyman
#2 alloy mix? This 69yr old brain doesn't know where to start. Thanks.

You need antimony or Type set, to harden them up more.
They are most likely wheel wts. But they could be anything (even toxic!).
So I would first melt what you have all together in a ++ventelated area, so you know its all the same.
Then try casting some up and see how it casts. You dont want to throw good alloy at bad stuff. Just make sure its good alloy first. Then if you want Lyman #2ish
that would be aprox BHN 15. Try water droping from the mold wait 24 hours and test the hardness. If the alloy is WW it should be close. If not try a mix of 50/50 alloy/WW,and retest the water drop test. Or add 1 part type to 6 parts mistery alloy. Thats all just a guess so good luck......Buck
