I do. 24 grains and the bullets stack at 50 yards. It's gonna be a GREAT rabbit plinker and kids round.

I'd like to experiment with a more full power load for 100 yard shooting or if I am lucky, 200 yard shooting. Hodgdon says max load is 40 grains, so figuring I have some sort of accuracy node (hopefully!) between 31 and 40 grains, well that's a LOT of load development!

I'm hoping someone has a pet load in the high 30's that works well in their own rifle. Or maybe even tried 30-40 and found that it didn't work at all. Or what DID work?

I really like H4895 and would like to stick with this powder for the non reduced load. Anyone load this combo?

Thanks guys!

not with the soup can but with the lyman 145 & the 168.
sadly 24 grs with it was the best in two rifles.
at 50 yds 36 grs of 4831 and a filler was spectacular, at 100 yds it was not.

I'm revisiting this project. I have the same performance. Spectacular at 50, not so much at 100. New goal. Soup can and 4895 (or trailboss, or 4198) working. whatever speed it ends up. 4895 is the winner, trailboss a close second, I'm ditching 4198. 24 grains 4895 still seems to work best 12 or 16 grains of TB, I forget which.

Bottom line: 50 yards great, 100 not so much. Looking for ideas on what to look for as I start to tweak. Charge? OAL? filler? Lube? My only concern at this time is tightening up 100 yards.

I'm way off subject here but in my 7x57 with the RCBS 160? I shoot 16 gr of 2400 for 1500 fps. Extremely accurate to a hundred, not sure about 200. It will ring my 200 yd gong every shot but it's 12" square.
No problem taking a squirrels head off at 50 maybe even 100.
I've been deer hunting with it here at home this week because I have a dog that will track on a leash. I suspect I won't need it though. Woody
